Arthen recognizes his name. Krambler is making progress with Gale. The sword is a mixture of pulling from traditions of wind and water, deeper insight as to its nature.
We travel for four days. At the end of the 3rd day we come to a tributary, about 50 or 60 feet wide, going to the north with a bridge over it. It seems out of place. Three arches, two piers in the middle. Not in great shape but fairly well built. We cross the bridge without issue.
On the 4th day, we’re entering some scrubland into some trees. Some grassy being emerges from atop a nearby cliff.
WE FIGHT!
Cricket finds a message written on a blade of grass: EMERGE. ARISE LIKE GRASS.
Silas’s previous cast of commune with nature before the fight had three threads to it. He casts again, and he sees the thread spread out and extend out through a tunnel and they eventually pop and break and we’re left in the space that we’re currently in. Silas sees holes in the landscape, there’s a weird connection to other places, that’s being stretched and broken. In The turtle place, there were different entrances especially, didn’t feel quite right, the pathways were open. This is similar, these pathways are small and have disappeared. They are specific connections that have elongated and went away.
Cricket sees that these messages are written on these creatures. Some nature of the spell is the writing itself.
We travel on. We come into more of the forest, and it seems well traveled, but its strange. There are really large deciduous trees (beech, oak, maple, old trees). On the other side of the prairie were a lot of conifers in the elevation, about a week ago. Things are dark and strange. Doesn’t feel like a forest that we’ve been in before. Not identifying all the plants and traces of animals. Birds and small animals are very similar to what we’ve seen, but not exactly. Not otherworldly, but different. (essentially Fangorn)
Volume of river water is dropping, but The Black Water volume has been consistent.
Krambler posits that the grass beast writing might be connected to his tattoos.
Wondering if the beasts might actually be human. Whomever might be marking these people and reinventing them as this material. But the process of writing on the body would have the ability to transport over a distance. K’s tattoos have opened the way for him to be able to do some of the monk elemental control. Never seen it done, but he’s watching these creatures open the way of the four elements. K is perceiving this as potentially available to you.
Cricket takes some charcoal out of the fire. But what should we do with it? Let’s eat it.
