The party continues to follow the druid path northward.

Description of Tapestry blanket with 9 panels:

1 - Group of hunters with spears entering forest (male and female)

2 - party weaves through forest (some hidden, some moving)

3 - One hunter points to what looks like a mammoth

4 - Party is stalking the mammoth stealthily

5-  they attack the animal

6 -  the animal dead is being cut up while lions sneakily approach and climbing tree branches

7 -  the party flees and lions pounce the carcass

8 - the party flees through the woods and find a man by a campfire

9 - the lions flee from the mammoth as the warriors re-enter have returned with flaming brands

  - Balthazaar*** - the flaming brands remind him of the story of [[Weyland]].

Discussing the story of Weyland - they talk about the Stone King who turned water, air, NIGHT into stone.  Party has fought elementals and stones.  When the fire elementals were destroyed they realized the obsidian they collected from the ashes could be the stone made from fire.

Cricket’s “perceives” that it says in the Weyland story the Stone King could make all these things into stone without humans but it took Weyland to freeze fire to turn fire into stone.  But it took man to make fire into stone.  It has to do with man - the volcanoes make obsidian.  The stone king would be banging away at the bottom.

Rambler - what about the bronze from the forge?

Cricket - bronze looks like fire

Krambler - bronze comes from fire

Storr - the Weyland story required him sacrifice an eye;

Balz - says something poignant

Mannix would have said that the smith god, which sounds like Weyland, is depicted as having one eye.  Maybe this is how the smith god lost his eye?  There’s a mythological archetype pounding in a crazy forge with one eye…

Krambler’s dream… it’s in Mannix’s helmet.  It contains the sound of moonlight

Balz - what is it about man that can make stone from fire?  Is it his nature?  Violence?  There’s something about the eye that reminds him of an old god story of a garden and an apple… losing innocence to see the truth.

Balz would recognize a motif - to do an impossible task you’d have to sacrifice something.  We could run into a king of stone in the mountains… and never having seen it before we may not recognize what it is.  Say like a giant turtle.

Krambler’s

  - Dream from [[Tawesek]]*:**
  • So you dream that the smith sends you on a mission in your sleep - you are aware that you are dreaming - and you walk for miles across the high plateau in blinding star and moonlight.  You come upon a small cold lake, surrounded by stones, where you collect reflected star and moonlight.  On your way back, you capture the sound of the wind in your cloak, all of which you bring back to the smith, and - using your hammer - he pounds them into Mannix’ helm.*

  • You awake exhilarated, but muscle tired, as though the walk was real.*

  • You feel as though you saw into the nature of things, that you saw how light and sound mix with stone and water.  When you awake, you still feel these things to be true, but feel less understanding than the deep understanding you had while asleep.*

The runes on Gale are transcribed as “Rhiannon’s Gale”.  Balz has heard the name before but can’t place where.

As Storr looks at Gale - the blade is steel, the red may be copper and NOT bronze.  There’s some green where the copper has weathered.  There may be some silver.  The handle is a green handle strapped.  On the actual blade is copper and silver mixed making the pattern.  The pommel is a large green stone.

Krambler recognize the flame patterns in Gale are similar to his tattoos.  In terms of style.

Storr thinks Krambler should carry Gale.  She passes the sword onto Krambler.

The party journey’s on…

  • Silas** was aware growing up there was a path that lead south through the mountain that he never knew the location necessarily but heard of this thing called The Black Lake of Osgog.  He’s putting two and two together, this trail shows itself to be built by his clan/druid folk.  He bets this is that trail… it leads to this thing on the edge of his knowledge.  Balz  do you have any family or people who still live there?

Silas - yes, I was sort of sent by them to gather info.  It’s why I went to Monsoth in the first place. We didn’t necessarily know what’s going on.  We’re collecting info and I’ve fallen in with you all because I’m supposed to figure out things about this black stream.  There will be people there whom he still knows in the valley.  The path we’re on went northeast, but there was another that went Northwest.  The black lake must be off west… the lake with the island of ravens and weather was not the black lake of Osgog.

The party considers the options…

The chess game continues between Cricket and Silas. Krambler tries to attune with the Goat Helm.

Balthazar  BONDED WITH MANNIX’S ARMOR AND IT WAS ABSORBED INTO HIS SKIN AND HE WEARS IT AS A RING IT WAS A WHOLE THING.

Balz recalls the story of the son of Mons named Osgog; the most famous betrayer.  He was building a monster and he remembers the monster was a dragon built from ancient things.  Balz is connecting and wondering if his torture he went through was trying to recreate/do something and recognizing that creation, what Osgog created, is kind of from the stories a very negative thing.  Balz wonders if this is why he looks the way he does, were they doing something that they should not have and was that thing how he came to be through the act of creation; trying to tap into ancient things that didn’t work well last time.

Awakens a treeish creature.  Balz tries to communicate with it and it tries to speak but it’s unclear what was said… it moves towards the party who are above it.  It may it moves as if it trying to figure out how to but as it does it progressively becomes more adept.

We fight.

Balz dips a crossbow bolt in vial of black water and shoots the bolt at the ent, it hits and…. IT GRAPPLES KRAMBLER AND ABSORBS HIM INTO IT’S BODY .

Balz hears screaming in his head when the bolts hit the monster (“CAN WE GET IT BACK”).  Storr gets pulled into the creature.

They kill it… it shrieks as it collapses into itself and looks like a bunch of evil dead weeds.
