Silas reviews the convo with Seren. To include

Of note is that the dead are exhausted and need help. Mons defeated the God of Death. But if people are dying maybe they are not getting to the dead that are maintaining the veil between worlds and prisons, so they are stretched like butter over so much bread.

We review last week.

  1. More Weathertop There are more than twelve stones.

Could the stones be sentinels? Do we camp here? We could see if the skies align with the stones in some way.

We spend the night.   Awe inspiring information will follow later.

  1. We Journey Journeying on.  Move a few hexes to the ESE.  Some rolls happen.

As we are coming down out of the hills…Krambler hears something on the wind and goes looking to check it out.  He discovers a roving band of soldiers who have the livery of the Sun King.  Rambler is ambushed by them.  He escapes and gets back to the party.  (He passed a saving throw so…) he loses half his max HP and the band pursues him.  The party decides to try to lose them, and our DC fatigue saving throw increases by 3.  (5 total to date)

Balz roll: 11. We decide where to go. There’s a habitation two clicks to the east that may or may not be friendly. Krambler looks through the spyglass. It appears more likely to be a settlement rather than an army camp. Evidence suggests an established settlement. We’re not sure which direction the army was going. As we were coming down, they were to the east. K went off in that direction and was ambushed.

What if this is Trenewdyth? We head in the direction of the town. We get pretty close. It is early evening.

  1. The Settlement We can wade across the stream . We see people going in and out. A lot carrying baskets with produce and heading into the building with produce and coming out with market. Some structure with steam and smoke through the roof (blacksmith or sugarhouse) There’s a statue of a man and a woman who look like farmers we native that they both have ram’s horns.

As we get closer, there are some people under the steam structure with vats gathering brown liquid, which smells grainy.  It’s not syrup; this is autumn. A man and a woman are there and they hail us, “What can we do for you?”

“what do you do here?”

“We’re making beer.”

We love beer. Do you go for an ale? A brown? A stout?

This would be a brown, perhaps an Oktoberfest.

We talk more about beer.

What’s that building?

That’s the village hall.

Is there trade happening?

You’ve arrived in the middle of the harvest festival. There’s a feast tonight.

What’s for dinner?

Everything.

Any chance some strangers could partake in said feast?

As long as said strangers come in peace and love.

Can you recommend an inn? Any available beds?

There’s a farm out one was who can sometimes be persuaded to extend their hospitality to travelers, if you’re willing to sleep in a hay loft of a barn. Tarro and Gwanydth. There’s Gwanydth going into the hall right now.

Any ration to Balz’ horns? He has his hood up, so no.

We digress into horny jokes.

Could we interest you in a beverage?

They look at each other and around. He reaches under a box and pulls out a stoneware jug. It smells strong.

We pass around the jug and it is indeed (luckily) beer. The woman shakes her head. He slides it back under the box and they go back to work.

We head to the hall to ask about lodgings.

The hall is a large space. Stone walls going up 8 or 10 feet. 30 by 50. Big table setup along the center. Some other son the sides. Tables against the walls have baskets and heaps of different food. Center table has a bunch of places being set. Everyone seems like they’re in a great mood. At one end there;s a little raised space that has some stools setup. Opposite from where we came in there;s an extension where there’s an open air kitchen. Some fires going. Some bread baking. Some meat on a spit.

Anyone getting ready? Not yet.

Can we lend a hand while striking up a conversation?

We want to be earnest and ingratiate ourselves to these folk. Br rolls persuasion (12) She goes over and notices some women working at a table arranging things. Br offers to lend a hand. “We;d love to have your help! Can you help us move these pumpkins.” (Very high pitched, very monty python) They seem happy to participate and chat.

Silas asks if he needs to take his helmet off. (He rolls a 9 persuasion) The folk say that, yes , he can if it makes him comfortable. We are comfortable with horns here, so yes. They seem to think that Silas is a little slow, like an idiot brother.

Silas: I am smart. I just want to know

Of course you are. Do you like goats?

I like bears. Bears beets goats. I have a bear.

Silas steps aside to reveal Arthen.

They are surprised.

Look he’s trained. Silas shows how he’s trained.

SIlas: I will keep helmet on.

We’re still helping out with the arrangements. Br and Storr help with pumpkins. Balz walks voer to Gwaneth with Silas and Arthen. Balz take his hood off as he approaches.

Our intention is to find a place to crash after we inevitably drinkn too much (Balz: 15 with help Silas) Balz looks GREAT next to the horn-helmed Silas.

Balz converses with her. We’re getting to know her. She’s a little distracted by the horns but not put off. They do have a farm and usually let people crash there after the festivities and that would be fine with them. Balz offers to pay. She says thank you, that would be fine. She’s brought a bunch of things and needs to head back to the farm but I’m sure we will see you later tonight at the feast.

What is the name of this town?

Trevas.

What’s the occasion for the feast?

It’s the harvest festival. It’s the best time of year when we all eat so well.

Thank you so much for your hospitality and generosity.,

She takes a last look at Balz and nods and heads out. As we continue to move around, there is some whispering, not shocked silence, but people are definitely noticing Bals and Silas especially, there’s more eyes on us.

Anyone put off by the bear cub?

We are getting attention, but not sure why. We have a guy with a horned helmet, a more charismatic guy with real horns, and a bear cub. It’s a sight.

We have reached the conclusion of our journey. We make our fatigue saving throws, and it’s not good. Silas and Storr are at exhaustion level 2. Balz is at level 3.

We talk to the pumpkin ladies about the statue.,

The statues out front represent Gorgomogg and Gwanethen. the patron saints of this village. They guarantee a good harvest.

Can you tell us about them?

Just that they watch over farmers and harvest time. During the festival tonight one of the boys in town and one of the girls will be crowned king and queen of the harvest and they’ll be a parade.

Does the woman go b y any other names?

Not that I know of.

How are these two figures related?

They are husband and wife.

What’s next?

Our intention is to spend a few nights’ at the farm so we can get a long rest. We’ve got an understanding with the farmer wife that’ its doable and they are amenable. We can go into the feast tonight. Next session will be the week following next. Have some thoughts about what it is we want to do. We could just go and attend and go to sleep. We could also go full council. We did just run into a band of sun king minions. It’s late afternoon. Feast starts at sundown.
