Storr “asks” Krambler for the hammer, and hoofs it back to the blacksmith to show him and ask him about it.
Blacksmit: This is a strange tool, where di you get it?
Storr: A gift from a friend. Can’t tell you much about it. Thought you might be an expert.
He spins it around. “It’s balanced very well. I could probably use it. Not sure I’d want to, my hammer and I have been through a lot together.”
Thank you for your time. Gold piece.
Silas asks the innkeeper about the purple roofed building. A family that fishes the river, a man and a wife, 4 children. Have a funky place on the river.
We decide to explore the village. We have to either wait for a ferry to come through of for the boatwright to make something anyway. This village was the place where the woman who claimed to see Musk and the child up north, so we should ask around about that.
We head to the eastern part of the village past the walkways and onto more solid ground. Woodworking area. A larger building to the north.
We talk to the boat maker. It would take weeks to make a boat to accommodate us. We can ask around the fisherpeople if we could use some.
Have you heard anything of a man and a child? There was a woman who may have seen them.
I did hear something around town.
Heard of a fellow guardian a black lake?
I’ve heard myths about a black lake to the west.
Large building?
Grocer. Family collects things for food, and most of us do our bartering there.
Thank you, boat maker.
Let me know if I can do anything for you.
We go talk to the grocer. She hasn’t heard anything about a strange man to the north.
Does she know of anyone that may have gone up toward Winter, looking for food?
Kelynnen. She lives just up the path further into the woods.
What’s going on with the weather?
It’s always early summer here.
We follow the path into the woods, Branwen knocks on the door, Kelynnan answers.
We heard this other woman may have saw a man and child in the winter lands. Branwen has strange look and carries a bird, this is weird to this woman. She wants to know what kind of connection they have? Branwen stares blankly.
She wants to know why we are here - Branwen explains we are looking for the man and the child; it would have been long ago. We want to know if she can remember anyone who matches this description.
Branwen critically persuades Kelynnen!
She says, “Yes, I met a strange person while I was going up to collect some herbs from the hills at the edge of spring. He told me a story about having found a child but at that point, having given the child away. It was a long time ago.”
Days, weeks?
Many moons. If you wanted his full story, you’d have to talk to him yourself.
You think he’s still there?
I don’t have control over him, but he did seem somewhat stationary in where I found him.
We’ve seen some terrible stuff on the way over here. How is the traveling between here and there?
It’s wild country, but if you’re clever and know the way, you should be okay. I’ve never had a problem.
- Council is in session Branwen is our spokesperson. We’re asking her for Kelynnan to accompany us, as a guide, up to the spot where she saw Musk. We’re offering to accompany her and potentially escorting her back to the village.
Branwen succeeds in the Persuasion roll, using her own inspiration advantage.
Branwen implores her to come with us, because she’s been there and knows what she’s doing, noting that K can do her gathering and foraging in greater safety with our group as escort.
Branwen passes another roll.
C says: “Tell me more about your motivation to do this.”
B: We’ve been tracking this man and the child he abducted that’s near to their homeland.
Where are you from?
We’ll have time for that on the journey.
I’d rather like to know something about my companions before I head off into the woods.
Silas steps forward and introduces himself, and Arthen. Branwen again implores that we are trying to right the balance of the world.
Branwen rolls again, and SUCCEEDS.
She agrees to travel with us. We can discuss the return when we arrive there.
COUNCIL IS NO LONGER IN SESSION
Should we leave in the morning?
Yes, let’s gather some things and leave in the morning.
We ask if we may stay at her home. She invites Branwen in, but says Bal and Storr are not welcome, they have “marks” that she’s not comfortable with. Silas and Arthen can stay outside. Krambler can sleep on the bench.
Any other points of interest?
No statues. This is a fairly quiet town of people, goung about their business in the marshes.
Any shrines? Offerings to entities?
She looks at B and everyone else and we get the sense that maybe she’s not willing to talk about that with everyone.
So Storr, Silas, Arthen, Bal and Kramb have the afternoon off. They head to the funky house on the river. Branwen, too, as she’ll hang with Kelynnan tonight.
1. FISHER WIFE AND KIDS
We come to the fancy house on the west side of town. We see young faces peaking out the windows. We’re standing there awkwardly on the boardwalk.
Silas waves to the children in the window. He rolls a 0. They scream and yell to their parents “There’s a bear that’s going to eat us!!”
The mother comes out and Branwen diffuses, and the mother says Why are you scaring the children?
Silas apologies and says Arthen is a good boy and scritches him, but Arthen jumps off the gangway into something gross.
B tries to explain that the bear and the druid is work in progress. Silas jumps down off the gangway and tries to grapple the bear.
The mother sighs and says what can I help you with.
B explains that we’re visitors , we talked with Kelynnan. We’re checking out the town, your house looked interesting.
We’re just an ordinary family, my husband is out fishing. Good day.
Do you ever hear music on the wind (we’ve been hearing chimes off and on).
She looks at B and says, “I think most of us hear it sometimes, but I like to fall asleep listening to the river on the poles our house sits on.”
B: I too like to listen to the wind. My friend heard music on the wind as we approached your home. Is there music coming form the lake?
All things have voices if you’re willing to listen to them. If your staying with K, she can tell you more than I can. Good day.
She moves back into the house, but not rudely, like before. It’s awkward, doesn’t know how to react, not antagonistic.
Silas and Arthen go for a swim to wash off the stink.
Storr is suspicious and knocks on the door and tries to ask if “everything is okay” to the mother. She says “Yes, thank you, good day”
Storr asks B if she can have Koweth do a lap around the building to see if there’s something off. Storr seems to think there’s something wrong. See if there’s anything wrong or someone else with. (B can see through the raven’s eyes and hear what he hears, always obeys commands) Kowethi doesn’t really see much, nothing out of the ordinary. No one standing next to a window. K doesn’t see a good place to peak in. Koweth sees the tops of heads of two little girls, whispering. Not odd, just playing. One of the boys playing with some blocks upstairs in the attic space. A couple of small beds up there. Don’t see the fourth kid, not sure if the boy is inside or not. The mother is chopping veggies in the kitchen.
Out of the sky, we see something falling at great speed. We hear a noise, someone yelling from far away, it gets louder and louder. Then the body slams into the water, it’s Mannix. Just kidding.
We leave the fisher wife to take care of the kids.
Everyone makes their way back to where they’re staying instead of harassing this poor family anymore. Storr goes to the inn. Silas and Br go back to Kallynnen’s. Silas wild shapes and heads into the woods with Arthen for training. Br and K will discuss things. Storr wants to try and communicate with Kleghan (her sentient sword).
Kelynnan informs us that Musk might be up along the tributary that heads toward the edge of spring.
1. WE BEGIN A JOURNEY (road trippin!)
We do have advantage on pathfinding checks because of the maps undertaking.
Also we advantage on the journey table rolls as well because we have Kelynnen with us.
Roles
- Scout (Exploration) - Silas (+6)
- Look-out (perception) - Branwen (+4)
- Hunter (Hunting) Storr (+3)
- Guide (Travel) Balthazar (+4)
She recommends two routes, by land or along the tributary.
We travel north around the forest to try to avoid danger.
First event:> Four days out. Scout. Silas finds a joyful sight. As we come across the morning of the fourth day, there’s a mist rising off the grasslands around us and we smell something on the air, Silas is taken with it. He persuades B and K to come with him, so we veer slightly off the path, and we come to the hillside that is covered in blossoming cherries. The whole hillside is covered in bright pink blossoms on the wind. We have this beautiful smell, bees flying. A beautiful moment. Silas succeeds the check (by spending a fellowship point), and everyone gets inspired!Second event: > Three days out, nearly at our destination. Scout. Chance meeting. (20) As we’re following the tributary now at\that goes up in the hills. Stream is fast and strong, There’s something of a path on the far side, we see a small band of three or four people coming down with traveling packs. K’s reaction is to watch them. She stops moving, we get the sense that they don’t see her. We see them, and we get to decide to engage. We hail them. At first they look around and look around but its not totally clear if they can hear us. They look across and look at us. They say “Hello! We seldom see people. WHAT BRINGS YOU HERE?
There’s a cave and we’re collecting a special stone, quartzite. We’ve travelled this way because our master uses it to look more closely at things by shaping it.
Is there more?
Yes, but it is hard to extract, we don’t come often because it is a long journey, and carrying rocks is difficult.
What tools do you use?
We have some excavation wedges and hammers and things or that sort. We don’t want to keep you.
Good day to you travellers! (we should check out this quartzite)Journey was for a total of 6 nights.
JOURNEY COMPLETE
No one gets exhausted. We’ve made it to…
Random quote: “All things are circles, and all vaginas are circles, and all circles are vaginas, if you’re brave enough.”›
We made it to a waterfall. The story was he was at this waterfall. This is our destination. I’m not sure if he’s still here.
