1. We discuss many things We discuss many things.

The primary conflict we thoguht was the Sun King and The Abbot?

Runic messages, the festival of the twins.

Our animal kindred reflected in the stars.

There was another message that we never logged:> Not all messages may pass

Through elements intact, they each

Have their nature - a strength

And a weakness.  And a friend

Can send hints with an enemy,

While a company must know

It’s own secrets.

Stay on the black road! There

Are those who await

Their chance to aid another’s

Quest.  A new Sun rises but

Cannot eclipse the Eldest.  Remember

That some happily lie

To keep their hands from loosening

Their grip. This was from the fight with the water knights: [[6/22/23 The One Where We All Disappear A Couple Of Times|http://osgog.mrobinson.us/index.php/6/22/23_The_One_Where_We_All_Disappear_A_Couple_Of_Times]]

We don’t have a lot of information on the festival. The people were wearing black and purple, the colors of the God of Death’s chariot, but also Branwen/Morianoth’s colors. The twins we’re speculating are the bear and Gwedhen. They wouldn’t be on Mons’ side then.

There’s many mentions of women in stories. Women under trees.

Someone was pushing us into this direction. If we’re to council, we need to figure out what we want to ask of these people. This isn’t an inn.

The modification of the oracles chamber (via text): The Oracle is peering into water to answer our question.

We’ve seen wells like this before, there was one outside the bear tree village.

The girls are nameless. They have no names. The girls eat honey and milk. Could it have spurred their growth? Time is weird.

Options for our council (DM offered):

  • We came here assuming we were going to find a kid, following The Boatman and oracle’s advice. Do we want to pursue that? We have four kids in front of us. Is one the kid? Are they all the kid?
  • How much of the tower and its surroundings are we interested in exploring? Are we hanging out? Exploring?
  • We’re in Nyth. Do we need to figure out what the next goal is? Are we looking to find the next quest?

As for number 1, we’ve found the girls. We’re not of the mind to take anybody back with us.

  1. We talk with the girls We talk to the girls and tell them about what our intentions are, and why we were sent here. They aren’t sure what to say to us.

Branwen: So you’re all sisters?

Girls: We’ve grown up together. More like w’re lucky orphans

Storr: Have you ever wondered where you come from?

Girls:

Br: Gwen, have you heard of the sun king?

G: Yes of course

Br: So what are you’re thoughts on SK?

G: I don’t know that it’ll make much difference to us in the mountains. Hopefully no one will notice we’re up ehre and things will go on as usual.

Br: Do you generally approve of his ambitions for the manle of god king? Or is that a mantle best left untaken?

G: My concerns are here taking care of these four girls and making sure the guy who’s watching the stars remembers to eat every day. The whole thing with SK, is shortsighted. We’re deaing with stuff up here. Our eyes are facing up.

Storr: What is that you’re trying to learn here?

Gw: We’re not even sure. Whane you’re really learning, when you’re on the cutting edge of research, it’s not always clear, but you believe and we believe that the stars are telling us something. And I believe that you’ve seen some of that. Do we have the answers? No. Do we know what the riddle is? No. But we’re here trying to figure it out.

Br: Did you build this tower or find it?

G: I didn’t build it. You would have to ask Serethor. (she saw an ad in the paper for a caretaker.)

Storr: When you brought the child home, did you write anything down?

G: Gotta talk to him.

Storr: Good time to talk to him?

G: Give him a few hours.

Storr: Girls, do you have interest or participate int he research?

Girl w/ glasses: Well I find it really interesting and I’ve been working on these pieces of crystal so we can get a better view of stuff. I’ve played around with them with a candle and I think  we can make things closer, etc.

Br: Is that how you came up with those glasses?

Girl: Yup.

How did the girls react to Balthazar? Put a pin in that until MR is here.

Br: Favorite constellation girls?

Red head: She really likes the kingfisher.

Black haired one: The crown

Blonde: The orion figure that hasn’t been translated in Osgog. A builder, someone carrying a hammer, a giant.

Glasses: Dragon

Br: Have you looked in the reflecting pool?

Girls: Of course, a lot of times. Those are their favorites.

Silas: Asks the Raven Haired girl, and the rest of them, about the song that she hums.  I recognize that song from my culture and upbringing.  Where have you heard it before?

RHG: shrugs, hums the song and walks away.

B: You guys like Mons up in here?

Gwen rolls her eyes.  Girl with glasses gets big eyes, looks around.  Blonde girl sighs impatiently.  The red-head looks annoyed and frustrated.  The RHG looks at Branwen squint eyed and returns to humming.

The girls tire of Branwen’s ‘god questions’.  We’ve entered the awkward family politics talk-zone.

  1. We play music and games with the girls Silas takes out his pan flute.  He’s never realized he has a pan flute, but it turns out he’s proficient in playing one, so he probably has one.

Silas plays the song from his youth, that has been hummed by the raven haired girl.

The RavenHG stares at Silas, the Blonde and Red head turn to him.  The Glasses Girl comments on the weather in the valley.

Branwen offers the RavenHG the Bone Flute.  She takes it and plays it really well.  We feel transported to… we start hearing rain.  A gentle rain storm.  MOstly a sensory memory - safe and comfortable listening to rain at night.  (Branwen notes that the last person to play that flute so well was the Boatman)

Glasses girl: clouds have wafted up, and it’s raining outside now.

Silas was always reminded of morning mist by that song.

Storr: Do the girls like to play chess?

Storr offers up a game of chess.

Blonde: We haven’t played it before, can you teach us?

Storr explains chess to these girls and plays a game.

The girls crush the barbarian. Storr plays black. The bleached wood queen, they make good use of and wipe Silas out.

Storr: You’ve never played this?

They shrug.

Storr: I haven’t played very much but you seem to take to this naturally.

Storr thinks she almost heard the red head say, “sucks to suck bro”

Storr tries again, best two out of three.

Storr manages to squeak out a win on this one. Storr says, “Maybe it was beginners luck,” and look pointedly at the red head. She’s black again. She checkmates white king with the black knight because the white queen has fallen.

Br shows Tewlder’s drawings to the nerd girl. She flips through them, “These are really cool, where did you get them> What are these spiral things?”

Br: A friend of ours gave them to us.

Girl looks at them. She looks at the geometric shell drawing. “ All these triangles are the same but different. How do you get from one to the next?” She goes over to the desk and starts playing around.

Silas asks the blonde if she’s ever climbed the tree outside the tower?

Never climbed it, but gone out and sit with it.

Br: What kind of tree is it?

Japanese maple

Silas: What does the blonde girl do while she sits with the tree?

She feels lonely and by herself, she misses the tree and wants the companionship. She likes to be there with it.

Silas: Does she listen for anything

Blonde: She listens to hear if the tree would like anything from her. But usually the tree doesn’t say anything in particular.

Has it ever asked for anything?

Sometimes it just likes her company. Just snuggle and be in its presence.

Silas: Has she ever gotten sense the presence of a bear when at this tree or elsewhere?

No.

Storr (to the red head): What do you like to do around here?

She doesn’t like when G makes her help out. She likes to wander. There’s been a couple night where she’ gone from the tower and slept outside.

Storr: Ever get into trouble?

She glares. Storr smiles.

Br: Ask raven haired girl. Does she ever listen to the wind, to the songs?

She looks at Br, she nods her head. She sings another song to Branwen. (this will be forthcoming from our dear DM)

(Branwen’s song: the boatman played it on his flute, Kelynnen has hummed it. Br has played it a couple times. Song that Br heard while she was waking. Cricket’s mother used to sing it to him as a child.)

Silas asks to play her song on the bone flute and gauge the girl’s reactions. Everyone nestles down where they are, including us. Everyone gets cozy. Girl with glasses yawns. The other three look at Br and watch what she’s doing. Not sure if they’re trying to learn it. Red tries to shake something off. The other two are reacting a little less.

  1. Wrap-up DM pep talk DM:

  2. I think you got good stuff tonight, if you think you haven’t go back and re read. I’m trying to hit the line of intriguing mystery vs hopeless mess without any information. Need a little bit of insight form us to get where we think are at.

  3. A couple of things, direct from the gospel of our DM:

    1. We would suspect as characters that we were sent to find a kid. We feel confident that we’ve made it to the place where the kid is.
    2. There are four kids in front of us. We feel confident that one of them is the kid we’re looking for. She only got one of them.
    3. Gwen got the kid we were looking for and brought the kid here. We don’t know where the other three came from. We have a strong intuition that the four girls are “split from one”. All four of them are very different. Not four aspects of the same kid. One of them is the one we’re looking for. (that’s an assumption that he would have that we would have…)
    4. As a party, having a sense as characters, I think you’re all aligned, Silas and Br have different belief systems, but our underlying morality isn’t different. Bal and Storr are harder pin down. As a group, way back, the dynamics were a little different. Now though, we’ll probably want to move in the same direction. Who do we agree with? Who do we not? What do we need to know about where we’re heading next. (Fuck the sun king?)
