- Our Yules
- Storr’s “Yule Dream”
“One night as you sleep at Martin’s Summer Farm, you see Beryan - the mother who runs the farm - go off into the woods. While she is kind and seems warm and friendly, you don’t feel entirely at ease with her, and she watches you in such a way that you feel uncomfortable, and as though she is judging you. You decide to follow her, and you do so stealthily. She walks into the forest along a path that you hadn’t really noticed before, and it leads you to a large old tree that sits next to a spring. It seems as though between the roots there’s a bed of moss and grasses, and she nestles down into it, and stares at the well. You awake later in the hayloft - where she’s had you sleep - and aren’t sure whether or not the whole thing was a dream”
1. [[Branwen]]'s "Yule Observation"
“One afternoon, when there’s a pause in the work of housekeeping, you retire to have tea with the girls by the fire, but realize that you forgot your cloak, and feel like using it as a blanket, because although the sun is warm outside, the brisk autumn winds sweep through the common room. When you re-enter the kitchen, you hear Gwenynen’s voice speaking to someone, and you peak through the cracked door that enters into her private room. Perched on her window is a large owl, whom she appears to be talking to. You withdraw quietly, so as not to be noticed, and ponder what you have seen.”
1. Silas' "Yule Experience"
“The evening after the fight, the blonde girl asks if she can bring Arthen to her room with her. You say yes, and she smiles, and leads him away. As you sleep on the tower’s open roof, you’re woken early in the morning by a sound below you. You peer over the parapet, and you think that you see the blonde girl, along with the black hair girl and the redhead playing the children’s game where the three link hands and spring in a circle. In the middle of the circle Arthen leans against the tree. When you go down there stairs to take a closer look, you find the four girls sitting by the fire. Arthen is curled up on the couch with his head in the blonde girl’s lap.”
- We loot those bodies What was our impression of the visitors? We got the sense that we were the priority, more than just a normal bureaucratic visit.
We loot those bodies.
Armor and weapons are all bronze. Fairly heavily armored, scale or plate. Branwen’s looking for armor. (Balz has studded leather and gives it to Branwen)
Woman has a torc around her neck made of three metals twisted together (like the ring we have)
She has a similar book to the one we found in the captain’s quarters, which Branwen likely recognized as a spellbook (Aug 1st)
Ring metals: entwined in three types, not sure what they are. Gale has some decorative metalwork on it. Ring wouldn’t look like the work of the same hand of Gale. Same type of embellishment.
Branwen removes the necklace. B feels that the object has some power in the same way as Gale or K. They’re in Bran’s inventory.
- Undertakings Balz: Maps: Has S traveled beyond this area? Ponder star maps as well. Also interested in helping make a telescope secondarily. Undertaking focus will be the maps. Can help glasses to make a telescope, but not
After the encounter, Gwen and the folk in the tower.. The girls exchange glances with Gwen, and sort of smiles. G: “Yeah, we’re not too worried about it.”
Based on that answer, we agree to take Yule.
Potential post-yule infiltration of the SK’s ranks. We start taking their clothing and armor in the interest of disguising ourselves and sneaking into the city. How does the emerging magic play into this? Could we use magic in that way? Maybe the old woman in the forest can manage something?
Speak with the dead option? DM: It’s on the table for a discussion, possibly a Branwen abilityx.
We talk about inventory.
Krambler is still with us. Baz is on the lookout for another hand crossbow.
K’s fellowship task could be to craft a new hand crossbow. Or craft M’s helmet in such a way that the helmet could be worn by both Silas and Arthyden. Mannix’s helmet might be a good addition for Arthyden, for charging. It’s made og a goat skull. At Tawesek, we ask the blacksmith to fashion it into something. He asks to use K’s hammer and K has a dream about it.
K’s undertaking: He’ll attempt to do something with glasses to make something with her input, either a hand crossbow or adjust something M’s helmet
Balz has a buckler made from the turtle shell.
- Group undertaking:** Study magical items.
Storr goes to work on Martins Summer Farm. Meets the family. She is working hard. She feels the burn of the work, pounding iron, takes out some anger and stress. Hurling hay, moving stone to make fences. She gets to know the family, the farmer. A mother and her six children. She integrates into the family. She has an experience in the log. She packs up food and hikes back up to the tower. Sheds a shadow scar. She is no longer miserable. (At the time she became miserable, our fellowship rating was 6. Is it back up to 6 now?)
Ballz talks about a proof of circles and equilateral triangles with Glasses, related to the lenses. She’s super excited that she figured this out. (Glasses Girl’s proofs)
DM will circle back on results of Balz undertaking based on what others manage to accomplish
Branwen is SNEAKING. Trying to find out more about the girls.
Silas plays a walking song.
Bran reads her bit. Gwen was having a conversation with the owl, nothing desperate or fearful, a sense of purpose. There was an owl named Archimedes that was Merlin’s pet. There is also a red fox constellation and there’s a story of a fox outwitting an owl. Maybe there’s an owl constellation that wqe haven’t identified. Is there also a large owl bird that is one og the phoenix and ther goose’s ilk? This owl was large. Guessing, it was 3 or 4 feet tall.
Island birds. The story of Bargos. Raven is a sibling of Bargos. All these birds might be siblings, might be proxies for gods.
B did hear the owl speaking back, not a human voice, but didn’t hear what it said.
Silas’s experience. The children’s circle game. Silas was older when he joined the druidic circle. This game coils represent a ritual of sorts like children’s games sometimes do.
Over the course of the month, no more emissaries from SK arrived.
K isn’t sure why, but he sees the blonde girl especially doing some work around the tower and she seems to be the one, she is the one that fixes it. He feels compelled to lend her his hammer to work on some things. By the end of the month, he feels compelled to give her the hammer. Why? He feels like he wanted to go and complete this task, but now his place is going back to Tawesek and carry on the Abbots legacy there, and return to the mountains that he hears calling him. He sees her fixing things, and he sees her using it better than he, and he gives it to her “in her keeping, to choose its destiny”. Still open for us to take it with us.
Balz would like to sketch K’s tattoos before he departs.
Balz is looking for leads about potential new locations that might be a good spot for celestial observation or landmarks that S might know about that are mysterious that might be worth chiecking out. Probably not more than the map of Nyth we already have. Stuff close by, his world doesn’t extend much beyond the tower. You can go up the tower, and down into the valley to Storr’s farm.
Has he heard of anyone in Nyth that might have a map of someplace outside of Nyth, a treasured possession that they might not understand?
We need to determine what our next step is, and then we can unlock more about Balz interfacing with S.
Silas asks the blonde girl about the game, she says it’s called “playing cradle”, the person in the middle is in The Cradle and spin around them. Just a gesture, no words. He thought he saw them playing this upon waking. The Cradle is also the name of the symbol we found in front of the tree of seasons, which Silas has also seen in henges in his homeland.
Silas asks Gwen about the honey. She has hives tucked down near the back entrance of the tower. Some of the bees presumably head down to the forest, other search out alpine plants. Always kind of fascinated by bees and beekeeping. Honey is so nourishing and delicious and loves the process of beekeeping. Bears don’t come up this far. Only interested in crawling up into a cave. Silas expresses interested in seeing the hives. She does, gross woven skips. Gwen ahsn’t heard of of other sources of honey or bees? Not particularly.
- Temperature of who’s our girl Storr: Blonde
Silas: Blonde
Bran: Raven
Balz: Red head. Tewlder had red hair. Didn’t show any magical ability in the fight.
